In July 2016 something was happening across the world. Reports were coming in about people walking into ponds, falling off cliffs and running out blind into traffic, while looking at their smart phones. Much of it may not seem out of the ordinary but it all happened across the world in such a short period of time and it was all related to the release of an app. ‘A Motley Crew’ is a 134-page photo documentary book and the result of three month investigation of the Pokémon GO community through a diverse group of people who have formed an unlikely friendship by spending countless hours on playing the game together. In the book the reader is allowed to take part of a world unknown to many, dismissed as a fad that few believed would still exist today, two years after its grand entrance to the public conscience.
